Please Keep Praying for Haiti

As most of you have heard by now, Haiti suffered a 7.2 earthquake on August 14, 2021, followed by a 6.0, and aftershocks.  Damage is extensive, particularly on the peninsula, with the counts of deaths and wounded still coming in at this point.  Last counts were 1297 killed and thousands wounded. Please pray for the Haitian people in the midst of very difficult circumstances.

Possible partnership in Nigeria

Please pray concerning a possible partnership with the work at the hospital at Egbe, Nigeria.  egbehospital.org  We have been in contact and we are looking at a possible Exploratory Team trip to Nigeria, and helping with trying to recruit a Missionary Maintenance Manager.  The position of Missionary Maintenance Manager is a temporary position intended to help train the Nigerian maintenance personnel.  The position would be for several months to three years, with occasional trips home, as needed.

Portageville Community Baptist Church

As of right now, the team to Portageville is scheduled to go up from September 24 to October 1.  We will keep you all updated as the team gets into the work there.  Portageville Community Baptist Church is a church planting ministry of Church Planters to America, and pastored by Rob Andreas (now the Director of CPA).  We worked with Rob and Sue and their family with the American Mission for Opening Churches for several years as well.  We are looking forward to partnering with the church in Portageville and looking at other areas where we can partner with CPA.

Bless A Child Orphanage

We have been able to provide funds for food over the past several months, which we are hopeful will improve the nutrition for the children.  We will also be able to help provide support for the school the children attend.  Schools are opening in Haiti under very difficult circumstances.  Please continue to pray for all involved at Bless A Child.

We are going to be focusing more of our resources to help the orphanage, including Project Child sponsorships, food, construction teams and possibly medical teams to provide medical care for the children.  Please pray with us as we work out the details.  The current situation in Haiti makes our efforts much more difficult, but the needs continue.  We have been encouraged by the willingness of the leadership for the orphanage to provide full accountability for the resources we will commit to helping the children.

Other Partnerships

  1. Please continue to pray for us and NGM as we work on details of our partnership.  Things are progressing.  We are working towards a partnership to establish Associate Schools of Discipleship with NGM.  We are discussing expansion to Jamaica, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic and possibly Nigeria.  We would continue working with the work already started in Haiti with Source of Light.
  2. An encouraging and exciting possibility in our partnership with Neighborhood Gospel Mission would be for George to be working in helping to set up Schools of Discipleship in various parts of the world as opportunities come along.  Please be in prayer as we work in that direction.

Director’s Corner

We thank you for your continued prayers and support for the work of Grace Mission, and for us personally.  God is at work, and we appreciate your part in His work around the world.

George & Nancy

A couple of updates on us.

  1. We both tested positive for Covid on July 13, with mild symptoms.  As of July 27, we are symptom free, and our health care provider advised that the CDC guidelines recommend not testing again, so we    are clear of Covid at this point.
  • On July 23, George’s mom, Winifred Callister went to be with her Savior.  She and Dad leave a tremendous legacy of ministry in Nigeria, then here in the U.S.  It is a time of sorrow and blessing as they are reunited in the Lord’s presence.
